Kristyna, Before & After, 2011, digital print

The photo series “Before & After” are conceptual portraits dealing with the relativity of aging. The prioritization of youth and the effort to stop the time has a major significant in the western culture. Each pair of photographs, taken in one-day, represents the same person in his/her teens and in the old age. The transformation is achieved by simple means such as the inner expression, change of cloths, and aging the skin and hair with yeast and flour. The altering the appearance of age in a moment let us question the ordering of past and future, and the linearity of time.
